Cheney’s Iran Provocation Strategy
It has been widely reported for the last 18 months that Dick Cheney was promoting a new hot front in the war on terror with a full out air assault on Iran. The most difficult part of this strategy seems to be garnering support for it, even from within the Bush administration. But according to this article, the Vice President has a plan to proceed with the air assault with or without political backing. The plan is to attack camps in Iran that are training/supplying Iraqi Shiites. Iran would hopefully retaliate, and then the full-on air assault can commence unimpeded.
I am very skeptical when it comes to trying to read this administration’s intentions, but this theory seems very plausible.
