The Mormon Church allegedly spent $25 million in support of Proposition 8 in California, which overturns the Supreme Court ruling earlier this year which legalized gay marriage. Religions are tax exempt but are very restricted as to what they are allowed to spend money on. This $25 million spend is a huge violation of Section 501(c)(3) of US Code Title 26. Lots of websites were complaining about this ad running on their sites through Google Adsense, so I hear.
Here’s a great write up of the details so far in this investigation. I will keep you updated if we hear more.
