The Rest Of Doctor King’s Message

Today is MLK day, and we celebrate the great history of a great man. The media will only celebrates the early half of that history. You will hear about civil rights, and the “I have a dream speech”. You won’t hear about anything that Dr. MLK did after blacks were granted their rights.

MLK turned his sites on economic rights of the poor. For the last 3 years of his life, before he was assassinated, Dr. Martin Luther King was outspoken about economic equality, the US’s support of brutal regimes around the world that suppress the poor… but you won’t hear a peep about these 3 years from the media. At the time all of the media coverage was slamming MLK for speaking about these issues, a 180 from the support he got from them on civil rights. MLK was also extremely outspoken against the Vietnam War.

I think it’s important to remember all of this when we think about this man’s great history. Here’s more
