Holyshit.net has a great abridged version of an interview with Lt. Col. Karen Kwaitkowski. She discusses how we now have 4 mega-bases built in Iraq, that most of our troops operate out of there, and that we will maintain these bases for at least the next 20-30 years, regardless of which party our next president hails from. These bases are the reason why many politicians view the Iraq war as a success, because we now have 4 hyper sophisticated basis in perfect geographic locations to police our interests in the Middle East until the oil runs out. Super base? What, is that like GI Joe or something? Man, I was in the military and lemme tell ya, there’s nothing quite that sophisticated about our bases. Yeah, there’s laser guided bombs and shoulder fired anti-aviation devices but no “Super Bases.” That is utterly ridiculous.
That said, I’m entirely open to the possibility that I could be wrong. I mean, I’m not perfect. Not like a “Super Base” anyway.
Just having a little fun with the premise. Have fun writing and I’ll have fun reading.
